I was accepted by QC university. My 3 years old son will accompany me to Canada. I wanted to apply for study permit for him, but local visa application center does not accept this type application for those kids less than six years old. They suggested me to apply for Visitor Visa for him. But my concern is that the study permit permits him to stay for a long time same as me, the visitor visa permits the stay only for six months.
I tried to apply for it online, and the check list generated. But there is one letter of acceptance needed, my son has not been accepted by any educational institutions.
Did someone have the same situation as me?

You cannot apply for a study permit for a 3 year old.
A visitor visa does not grant status. It is merely the document that allows a person to board a commercial carrier to Canada. Status is granted at the port of entry by the CBSA officer. Your son would be granted visitor status for the duration of your study permit.
Thank you for your reply.
But someone said his son got only 6 months duration when enter Canada even though he has 2 years study permit. It's up to the officer, right?

Ye, it's up to the officer. However, it doesn't matter because you have no other option. Your child does not qualify for a study permit, so you must apply for a TRV.
