Study permit extension

Hi! I am student here in BC taking BBA course for two years (2022-2023) with 3 years PGWP. My passport and study permit will expire on August 2021. when should i apply for study permit extension? Can i renew my passport now? I heard that one of the requirements are financial statements. How much money should I declare to prove that I can support my studies here in Canada or to approve my study permit extension? Thank you
