Study permit application

Hello people,

Do any of you have experience with renewing a study permit with expiring passport?

In my case, my passport is expiring on November 25, 2015 and I submitted my renewal application on June 23, 2015.

The thing is, I can't really renew my passport before I start my master program in September due to the mandatory military service required of my country.

So, my question is, will I be able to renew my study permit with my June application? or I will need to figure out a way to renew my passport to extend the validity over 6 months to do it?

I don't know for certain if they will extend your study permit. However if they do it will only be until the expiry date of your passport. CIC doesn't issue visas with validity dates longer than the validity date of your passport.

With the current timeline don't even bother. CIC will not issue permits/visas beyond your passport's expiry date. Unless your permit is expiring soon, otherwise you'll just get 3 months worth of permit and you'll be required to renew it again.
