Hi!
I have a few questions that I bet someone here knows the answer to
First of all, me (Swedish) and my wife (Canadian) is applying for spousal sponsorship in a few days, been together for more then a year and got married August 4th 2012. I'm currently on a study permit that expires in the end of April 2013. Our plan was that I were going to be done with my studies and get a post grad work permit in December, but the classes for my last term just got cancelled and I have to take others to get full time, which means that I wont be done with my program in December and can't apply for post grad wp. And I can't take more student loan from Sweden to take another term studying.
What I want to see if anyone knows is what happens to me when I apply in-land for PR? Since my study permit expires in April (earlier if I cant study full time in the spring), will I have to leave the country and my PR application will be ruined or can I stay in Canada (but not work etc)? If there is any kind of "extended tourist visa", if there is are there any requirements to that? My wife can support us with her work and us eating cheap for the time it will take to clear the AIP, but I don't have a mountain of savings to show that I have money to contribute if that is needed.
Since we have my wife's 9 year old daughter, who calls me her dad, I can't go back to Sweden and wait out the time for an out-land application, I have to try all ways I can to stay here.
I was planning to apply out-land, for the shorter processing time at first, but since I can't get my post grad wp, I can't find a way to stay in the country right now during the processing time.
Sorry for all the questions, but I must be blind because I can't see any answer to this type of questions on cic's website.
