Student Visa

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all are doing well.

I have done a Master's degree from United States and currently on F1 visa expiring next year and have a Bachelor's degree from Delhi University.

I have received an admit from a canadian university for a Master's program in Project Management (data analytics specialization)

I have couple of questions:
1) Do I need to give IELTS to obtain a student Visa?
2) I really want to move to data analytics track. Will be really tough to get a canadian student since I am going for second master's and my US student Visa will be expiring next year


Please let help / guide me.

If I were you I would i go for data science programs, like the PG diploma. Many good universities(calgary ,sfu etc...) and so-so colleges are offering that.

Not true. There is a big difference between public and private universities in Canada. The Canadian education is publicly funded and some of the better schools like Western, U of T, York have tuitions much higher than private universities. Private schools are for-profit institutions with lower quality, not as experienced instructors and in office buildings. Many private universities like Northeastern cater to international students. Anyone can get accepted into a private university.

Will this be the case for Private universities in USA too? Will i get a SP for getting admission in a private university in USA?? bcoz I am thinking of getting admission in USA as IRCC is not giving me a decision till now.. neither accepting nor refusing my application..just silence!!

US is totally different as their post secondary education system is structured for private and public schools. State universities (Ohio State) are public while most (Harvard, Stanford etc.) are private.

Then I ll go for USA as iam accepted in one private university. Maybe I ll get a study permit from USA.

I have a question about student visa. I’m 35 years old and I’m a general physician in Iran. I’m graduated from medical school in 2013. Almost 2 years ago on April 2019, I applied for Canada tourist visa and my request was rejected due to social Tie and purpose of travel. 3 months later on July 2019, I applied for Schengen tourist visa from France and I got it. Now I want to apply for a student visa in master of public health in Canada . I want to know how is prognosis for this action? Do I have a good chance to get a visa?

Honestly low since you are a general physician. You need to show how taking a Masters will help your career in Iran. Since you will be spending tens of thousands of dollars, how will it build on your education and given you better career opportunities (higher pay, better job etc.).

Thanks for your reply. I have a research background and I would mention it in my CV. I have two published papers with almost 10 citations, so if I get a degree in epidemiology or medical statistics, it will strengthen my cv for upcoming projects. As a result, if I write a good statement of purpose and explain my reasons, will it helps me to convince the officer?

Is the program at a top school like UBC or at a low tier school like Cape Breton. So why do you need a Master of Public Health if you have a research background and are a doctor? Published papers are fine but don’t show how it will progress your career.
