Hello Everyone,

I hope you all are doing well.

I have done a Master's degree from United States and currently on F1 visa expiring next year and have a Bachelor's degree from Delhi University.

I have received an admit from a canadian university for a Master's program in Project Management (data analytics specialization)

I have couple of questions:
1) Do I need to give IELTS to obtain a student Visa?
2) I really want to move to data analytics track. Will be really tough to get a canadian student since I am going for second master's and my US student Visa will be expiring next year


Please let help / guide me.

I am in similar situation. i have a question, Why would you not use your OPT? It will be tough man, but all we can do is apply and see.

no, i m on h1b. Why are you concerned with visa expiry date? You have OPT and then STEM,3 years to get h1. Get that h1 status, many companies are willing to transfer from us office to canada.

IELTS is not for the visa, it is a university's requirement. They may even wave it off for you.

Just to add that you want a public not private university. Your program needs to show career advancement in your home country. You have a Masters so you really need to outline why you need another masters.

Well, h1 didn't get picked in 2 attempts. My last attempt is next year. Irrespective of h1 result I will be doing a second master's since I want to move to data analytics side.

Dont go for masters again, a PG diploma is what you should opt for. And no one can tell whether your visa will be approved or not. Just Apply. All the best.

So you are going to for example, Northeastern or Yorkville…degree mills that are not attended by Canadain students. The classes are in office buildings. It will be an issue as you have a Masters and want to take a “Masters” at a private college.

You are going to find out soon enough that that's not true. Most private DLIs are degree mills that will admit just about anyone that can pay the fees. VOs know this too.

Not true. There is a big difference between public and private universities in Canada. The Canadian education is publicly funded and some of the better schools like Western, U of T, York have tuitions much higher than private universities. Private schools are for-profit institutions with lower quality, not as experienced instructors and in office buildings. Many private universities like Northeastern cater to international students. Anyone can get accepted into a private university.

All of these aside, admit in MS CS is anyways tough for the majority of the universities. I remember in 2019 I got reject from All except Concordia and Dalhousie and my GPA was 3.7 with 4 years of research exp. So if you have an admit, go ahead and apply for the SP. Don't worry about what others are saying, people are getting the SP for shitty colleges too. All the best
