Hi,

I tried to find the questions here but without success. I am a full time student in Ontario and I hold a student visa allowing me to work off/on campus in a part time basis.

I received a job opportunity in my area(software engineering) but is in a form of contractor. It means that I do not have any connection with the company and that my income does not have deduced taxes, therefore I need to do it somehow and the end of the year.

My question is: can I legally, as an international student, work in as an independent contractor? can I actually generate invoices as a "person" in order to be payed?

Thanks in advance.

As long as you work within the rules of 20hrs/week criteria you are good. Even if employer is not deducting, you can pay the required income tax with your own arrangement.
