Ok so my boyfriend has a student visa. It will be expiring march 31 (we need to get it extended so he can do his exams in april) He wants to stay in canada (with me. A canadian citizen) He was going to try for a residence visa but it requires alot of info, and about all your family members (he has 7 other siblings. Only 2 of which are still in canada. Does he really need all of their info??)
All together its one big mess. He has been in canada for about 4 years with his family and has 3 years almost 4 of college under his belt. one certificate already done and another to be done april. We have been living together since at least June last year, and have been a couple for about 3 years.
He used to be under his father who had a diplomatic visa, but when the family went back home he stayed (with me) And eventually got himself the student visa.
I dont think he even knows what immigration class he was going to apply under. o.o
The post-grad permit looks very promising. He wont be able to get proof that he is going to pass until after his exams though. Best thing would be for him to do the paper work to extend his student visa then? Once hes passed the course he can apply for the post grad permit. It doesnt really state the rules behind when he has to get a job and if it has to be in his field of study.
If his student visa is expiring now, he will have to apply to extend. Read up on the rules regarding at what point he must apply for the PG work permit. There are no rules as to what kind of job he can get on it.
He is quickly getting all the paper work together for the extention. He got a letter from his school that says his classes are officially over April 30.
How long will they extend it for? Do they do month by month extentions or more?

Why are you being such a jerk? If you want to be a positive contributor to this board, the first thing to understand is that most people don't know ANYTHING when they come here. This is where they LEARN. So be a teacher, not a bully.
