I'm about to submit my student permit application via Regular Stream. I just got my Letter of Acceptance from Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
I added my spouse and 2 kids in my application. There's a question in the online form prior to submitting/paying asking if a family member is going with me to Canada. Then it asks:
My wife will be working and my 2 minor kids will be studying. Do I choose for my spouse "Work with an Open Work Permit" and for my kids "study more than 6 months"? https://ibb.co/W5xpP5Y
Under the Regular Stream, is there use to submit a GIC? I'm wondering if it will help in the financial support side.
Hope you can share what you did in a similar application. Thanks.

You will add each family member individually so for you wife select Open work permit and if the kids will be attending kindergarten, primary or high school then select visitor. minor children do not need study Visa if they are attending at one of the above level. If you indicate that they will be studying then they will need an acceptance letter.
Thank you for answering my various questions in different threads.
This time, I have a doubt related to spouse dependent visa.
I am from India and I have received Letter of Acceptance for a 2 years program in Ontario (September 2019 intake). I have not yet submitted my visa application for a study visa.
But I want to get married to my fiance before I go to Canada. He may join me there after a few months on a dependent visa (open work permit). We will get our marriage registered legally. My questions are as follows:
1. Is it mandatory for me to get my marriage status updated on my Passport?
2. Considering, re-issue of my passport will change the passport number. Will it affect my study visa application or college admission?
3. Will it be possible for us to apply for our respective visas by submitting only the marriage certificate and not change my status in my passport?
Any guidance and perspective is appreciated!
Thanks a ton!

No, you don't need to change your status in your passport. That's a nice-to-have, not a must-have. You will need a valid marriage certificate to prove your marriage, that's all .
