Student permit extension

Hey,

I am completing a 1-year program this Jan 2018 and I have applied for another program for Sept 2018 and my student permit is expiring in July 2018. Can I extend my student visa and permit now and go back to my country and come back in September to start the course?

my guess and I am not really sure but u have to apply for visitors permit fron jan to sept if u plan on staying in canada and not studying.. I may be wrong so wait for seniors to reply

Your study permit expires 90 days after you complete your program regardless of the date written on it. So, if you finish your program in Jan. 2018, the study permit will expire in April 2018. If you want to stay in Canada after the 90 days, you will have to change your status to a visitor. For your second program, you will need to apply for a new study permit. Good Luck!
