Student having dependent

Hi, Both me and my husband are planning to study masters in Canada..... but, then we think it may be impossible to bear the cost of two students..... then we choose the option where with a study visa other one can join as a dependent. So, I think this option is more convenient as after one person's completing of the post-graduation, other one can start.
But, I think a student having a dependent may face some difficulties of getting visa...., and both of them may be redundant from having the visa..... If anybody have any idea about such kind of visa procedure please let me know......
