Can someone please tell us if you can change your status from married to legally separated after making an honest mistake on the original application? he's now due for visa extension but because he got confused on "legally separated". (thought that you must have the proof from the court) He has been separated from his wife for about 4 years now. In the Philippines where you cannot be legally separated unless you filed a legal separation from your spouse and if the court grant it. Now he wants to change it to legally separated from married status when he apply for his extension after finding that you don't need the document from the court to be legally separated here in Canada. What could happen if he change it? Also, because they want to file for common law after 1 year of living together with her long time gf. (LDR). Please advise
You say "for common law after 1 year of living together with her long time gf." and then you say "(LDR)". Which is it? A "Long Distance Relationship" is not the same as "living together".
