State Police Clearance - in addition to FBI

I am sponsoring my folks and I have got their FBI Police Clearances, the lady at the fingerprint place did another set and said you will need State ones too

When I check on CIC website, it says "may ask" for State ones? now, do I wait for CIC or get them anyways

I wanted to see if everyone who gave FBI, were all of you asked for State Clearance too?

Wait. Almost no one is asked for state clearances. When I submitted my first application it was still required and it's a lot of additional work and expense and waiting and normally not needed. Generally, state clearances are only required when there is a prior criminal arrest or conviction.

CSIS will do a background check anyway, and if THEY find anything, CIC may ask you for state clearances.

Having a second set of prints is still useful. If you need to re-do your FBI clearance, you can use the card (the fingerprint card is good for 18 months for the FBI.)

Thanks a ton, I read some old posts where "State" was required but I guess they changed it
