Hi.
Hoping someone can help me with this question.
I arrived to Canada on the 25th of October 2013, since then we have been living together and have proof of common law.
We had our lease signed on the next day, the 26th of october, and after that joint bank accounts, insurances, etc.
Can my date when you enter the common law relationship be the 25th of October 2014? since is exactly one year from when i arrived to Canada or would be better to put 26th to start with a full day?
Also can my applications be signed exactly on the date we enter the common law relationship? im planning to send them as soon as i can so was hoping is ok to sign with exactly the date when the common law relationship started or do i have to wait a day or days to sign and sent the application package?
Thanks a lot for your help!!!
if you started living together on 25th than you became common law on same day a year later. This is the date you should go by. You actually completed one year on the 24th and started common law on 25th.
I would fill out and notarize common law declaration on your anniversary , the 25th, and apply the next day.
You are right Rob, its not requirement but it doesn't hurt to have it at least in my case. We didn't change my partner's address right away even though he was added to my lease. We are applying tomorrow, just finishing few letters today and will include two notarized ones from friends.
Hopefully we included enough proof.
