I know this is minor, but I read in another thread that these are apparently not acceptable?
I double checked the instructions for the outland app and couldn't find any mention about it, however there are previous threads saying CIC don't want to see staples and paperclips. Our papers are stapled if they belong to the same application; i.e. IMM5540 papers are stapled, and if there are supporting documents for a particular form it's clipped on the back. Things like proof of relationship is
Any advice?
As I understand it, the FIRST thing they will do is "scan" your application into the system. To do that, ALL the staples would have to come off first. And this would just be a receiving admin/clerk of some sort doing this. Best to leave all of your evidence in a separate folder/sub-envelope . . . the officer assigned will sort it all out the way he or she likes to do it.
The videos on the CIC website say no staples.
I agree with truesmile.
Yeah the video does say no staples....but I do know people who have used staples and it is not like they get their app sent back...that is not the case but it makes it a lot harder for the officers and creates more work and maybe delays. I myself used paper clips and clamp clips to keep my app together .
I worried about this at first because I also read that on here after I sent mine off stapled the same way you describe. They never sent it back or anything so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Thank you for all the replies. I'll switch out the staples for paperclips then as they're much easier to remove.
I used paperclip, everything good so far

i used staples on every application i have with the immigration...they didn't sent it back.

paper clips are fine. They prefer no staples. They won't send it back if there are staples but you are just giving them extra work to take off all the staples
