I am a student here in Canada. When I applied for the visa I was single, after getting my student visa I got married few days before coming to Canada. I want to call my husband on the dependent visa. Wanted to know few things in regards to this:
1. Am I eligible to call my spouse while I being on student visa?
2. Should i be changing my passport and update it as married as I got married after I got the visa?
3. What documents would be needed for he visa application and also how much time would it take?
Requesting you guys to please answer to my questions as I am all alone here and need some help from this forum for applying the visa.
1. Your spouse is free to apply for a visitor's visa to Canada or a spousal open work permit.
2. This isn't mandatory for Canadian visa applications; a marriage certificate should be a start to proving that your relationship is valid.
3. Depends on the kind of visa you are applying for.
Note that there is no "dependent visa" - there are visitor's visas (TRVs) and your spouse could apply for a spousal open work permit. Those are not guaranteed, and it seems about 50% of applicants get them these days.
If my spouse comes on a visitor visa is he eligible to work??
I do have all the documents with me. I wanted to know what documents from here is needed for the visa from my side apart from the marriage certificate.
Also do you have an idea how much time would it take to get processed?
