I have received student visa for studying in Canada. Now the issue is that I wish to go with my spouse there. Can anybody guide us how to apply open work permit for him. Earlier I applied alone so that my our visa does not get rejected. Is it possible thr my husband apply for temporary resident permit and then at the port of Canada, he gives $150 and get open work permit?
If your husband is not visa exempt, he does not qualify to get a work permit at the border. He either has to apply for it while he is still outside Canada or get the TRV and go to Canada and apply from inside.

if wife get student visa ..then how the dependent visa follow.... do they have to apply in same application.. does dependent get open work permit easily ? is it valid for work any where ...and how long it takes one to apply for work permit with in Canada for dependent ??
The whole family can apply together, student visa for wife and school age kids, open work permit for spouse but if they apply together, visa officers are encouraged to look at the family as a unit and either approve all or refuse all. Some people therefore will apply for a student visa first and apply for the family later but in that case, it is possible that the family will be refused. If the family is approved, it is not a problem for the spouse to get the open work permit, can work anywhere.
well, what we were planning is if my husband can apply for a TRV now, and if he gets it..can he get open work permit at the port if we both go together to canada or inside canada once we have entered?
Its really confusing as there is no proper information provided. Any help from you guys wil be appreciated.
If he applies for an open work permit now based on your study visa, he will only have to pay one fee. If he applies for a TRV now, he will have to pay for that and then when he gets to Canada, he will have to apply for his open work permit from inside Canada and wait for it for a few weeks.
He does not qualify to apply for his open work permit at the point of entry because he is not visa exempt.
