I am a Permanent resident and settled in Calgary. I am going to India to get married soon. I want to sponsor my wife for PR.
I want to know that is it easy to sponsor her while she is visiting Canada on a dependent visa after marriage ??? or sponsor her from outside Canada (India).
I mean that which is the the quickest way (time period ) to sponsor my wife i.e. within Canada or outside Canada (while she is still in India).
She would probably get it faster if you did it through India. According to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/05-fc-spouses.asp#asia it takes average 4 months for outland application from India, add 7 weeks for sponsorship application first and then she can come to Canada as a PR.
If you do inland, you are talking the 7 weeks plus another 6 months for first stage approval and then she can get a work permit but PR will take much longer. Also if you are rejected, inland does not give you the right to appeal but outland does.
It will also be VERY difficult for your new wife to get a TRV to come to Canada once you're married . . . she needs to be able to convince the IO assessing her application that she will leave Canada at the end of her authorized stay and that will be impossible to do once she discloses her marriage to someone in Canada and her intention to apply for permanent status. So, file outland - it's faster anyway, and like Leon says, it has the right of appeal that the inland process doesn't have.
