Spouse Sponsorship Principal applicant not having birth certificate

hi everyone

I am sponsoring my wife who is an Indian citizen. She doesnt have her Birth Certificate. In the checklist it is mentioned that we must provide them with a birth certificate. I am looking to understand if there is a substitute for this? Do I really need to supply them with the birth certificate, wouldnt any other document such as Matriculation and Addhar etc bearing her DOB work.

Please advise if anyone had been in the same situation.

P.S. I am a PR since feb 2018.

apply for birth certificate or get affidavit in lieu of birth certificate (and maybe provide an explanation)
