I'm a Canadian. My wife and I currently live in China with our US-born baby. Our baby has already filed the application for proof of citizenship. We are going to work on the spouse sponsorship immigration application for my wife which has been delayed due to having the baby. I have a couple of questions on my wife's application as the followings:
Can my wife use her visitor visa to go to Canada with me soon after our child received its citizenship and passport, and then we apply for my wife's PR in Canada?
If so, whether my wife needs to change the type of her visa?
I'll be highly appreciated your comments or suggestions.
Yes, she should be able to enter on her current TRV. Understand that she is still a visitor when she enters. She should have a return ticket when she arrives as proof she is a visitor. Once allowed entry, you can apply inland to sponsor her.
No change in the type of visa. If she wants to work, you can apply for an open work permit when you submit the sponsorship.

Thank you so much for the answers. It will be great for us to wait for my wife's PR in Canada instead of China for 12 months or so. The downside is that we may have to make another trip back to China for moving all the necessary furniture and belongings after.
