Hey everyone
A friend of mine applied for a College in Quebec more than a year ago, but her visa was rejected. She applied again but got rejected once more. (Reasons were the same: The officer wasn't convinced that he would leave Canada after her studies and family ties)
Now, since her fiancé lives in Canada, they want to get married in their home country and then apply via spousal sponsorship. I was wondering if the previous study visa rejections would have a negative effect on spousal visa ?
Thanks

Not really as long as they have good proof that they are in a true relationship and can show that they can support their family without government help. If they only got engaged after all the permits were denied there may be a bit more concern so may be required to do an interview for example. How much time have they spent together In person? Before their engagement? After the engagement? Did they apply for a study permit after getting engaged? Is this an arranged marriage? If so would suggest getting married in a culturally appropriate ceremony/reception.

So there may be more suspicion unless they have extensive proof of longterm in person dating. Doesn’t mean you will be refused but this is also a pattern Canada sees for immigration fraud.
