Hi - I am new to this forum and hope you can help.
I am a Canadian sponsoring my British husband so we can move back to BC. Is anyone else doing the same DIY route with the paperwork as I am trying to? I am finding it a LOT of wading through paperwork and am concerned I am going to omit something crucial.
Also we are doing an outland application and intend to send it to the High Commission in the UK - has anyone else done this and what kind of time frame did you get for results?

It can be overwhelming, especially at first. There are plenty of members on this forum who have gone through this process--or are still neck-deep in it right now. Definitely check out the sticky thread in this forum to get you started. Also do searches on the forums to see if others have had the same questions as you and, when that fails, post your questions. Often times, others are able to help or at least give feedback to some extent.

Just a note: for ALL outland applications, you send the entire package to Mississauga's office, not to your overseas visa office. Once Mississauga approves the sponsorship portion, THEY will forward your application to London for you. Make sure to check the guide and document checklist thoroughly.

You might want to take a peak (or even join) the thread for Outland London applicants to see what their timelines have been like: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/thread-for-outland-london-uk-applications-t49436.0.html. The monthly threads can also give you some insight into how long London's currently taking to finalize straightforward cases.

BTW You do not send the application to the UK.
The application kit has the address you need for mailing your application to the Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Mississauga, Ontario (for family members living outside Canada)
or CPC in Vegreville, Alberta (for family members living inside Canada).
