Hi everyone. I am a Canadian citizen, and recently moved back to Canada with my husband who is Greek at the end of September, he is currently here as a visitor. We applied for spousal Sponsorship and his Work Visa at the end of November, and got his work permit application returned twice now due to payment issues. After we received it the first time we went and paid immediately the work permit fee which online states is $155, and now two months later (March 7) have received a letter stating that we still owe $100, and that his application has not been processed.
Our biggest concern right now is that his visitor status expires at the end of March, does he have implied status while we wait for his work permit/PR application to be approved?
Any information or guidance you can provide us with is greatly appreciated.
Others can comment as well but as I understand it and this is my view only he will need to apply to extend stay as a visitor to maintain legal status as stated in the link below

Thanks for getting back to me! So just to be clear, his PR application that we submitted at the end of November doesn't give him implied status?
Also, his visitor status expires at the end of March, I've read you need to apply to extend your status one month before it expires, do you know if we can still apply even though we only have a few weeks?

You dont NEED to apply one month before. Its a suggestion. You can do it at any time. Personally the times i have extended mine i have done it a few days before (once even the day before). Say your status expires on the 20th. You technically have until 11.59pm on the 19th to apply to extend it.
While he will have implied status from the you have submitted.. If for some reason it was returned again after his visitor status expired he would then be out of status. Not a place he wants to be.

Thanks for that info. So just to be clear, technically if we re-submit the Open Work Permit application before the end of March he will also have implied status, but just to safe we should apply to extend the visitor status just in case it gets returned again?

Also, maybe someone knows, do we need to re-fill out the forms and re-validate them after they are sent back? We did this the first time (included the old one too), this time there were some codes written on them that were then crossed out. Not sure if we need new forms or not.
