Hi,

I have a few questions regarding the supporting documents section of the application for sponsoring a spouse. I am a canadian citizen living in Canada and I want to sponsor my wife over to Canada for Permanent residence. She is currently living in the United States and she has no dependent children.

Currently, I am not employed and have not been employed for the past 2 years. I am currently in Medical School (last year). Next year I will be in residency which provides income. I am wondering how I can provide proof or convince CIC that I am capable of supporting my wife.

I believe that I do not have to meet any minimum income requirement to sponsor my spouse over. I was wondering on the document checklist, if I still needed to provide

1) An original Option C printout of your and your co-signers last notice of assessment for the most recent taxation year.

Yes the Option C is required for you and if you have a co-signer theirs is needed as well.
There is no minimum income requirement for spousal sponsorship.

There is no cosigner for spousal sponsorship, because only a spouse can be a cosigner, and the spouse is being sponsored, so can't sponsor his or herself.

You can show copy of savings or bank accounts. I was unemployed when I first submitted the application to sponsor my husband. I had a letter from my parents saying that we could live with them. I also showed my university degrees to show I had the education to get a good job.

Thanks for the clarification, I keep forgetting a lot of the instructions are generic for these forms.
