I am a Canadian living in Japan and married to a Japanese national. I have a spousal Visa to live in Japan. I will sponsor my Wife from Japan. Here is my question: I do not make $24, 000 Can. a year right now as I am only working part time. (25 hours per week) and Make about $1,400 a month. Can I still sponsor my wife if I don't make the Minimum amount because I'm only working part time. Also I have not filed my taxes in Canada for 2 years. Do I need to send an Option C printout or should I just send My pay stubs for the last 12 months prior to my application?
While there is no minimum income requirement to sponsor your wife, you will need to explain how you will support her when you both arrive in Canada. It's not uncommon (and perfectly acceptable) to state that you will have financial assistance (if needed) from your family.
Since you have not filed taxes in Canada, you obviously will not have an Option C to submit with your application. Your pay stubs, along with the required letter from your employer (as per the document checklist), should suffice.
You will also need to convince CIC that you will return to Canada once she has her PR. You can search this forum for suggestions on what to provide.
