Finalizing our outland spousal sponsorship and while double checking forms I noticed a minor error we need to correct in IMM0008 (Generic Application form For Canada). Just the # of total years of education was wrong.
This document has the barcodes and the signatures are on the barcode page. So I'm not sure if we can just manually change the printed form.
Now it will take about 4 days for my wife to reprint, sign and mail this updated version to me.
My understanding is that they take a month to approve sponsor - so can we just submit this version now and then send an updated IMM0008 following?
Or is there any way we can fix this without having to have her re-sign and send me another version?
We're just so tired of thinking about this application and just when we thought we're done this happens :-X
It's probably better to fix the form now with a 4 day delay to avoid risking a longer delay later. Sending a corrected form before you have a client number would make it hard for CIC to attach it to your application. There is of course the chance that CIC notices the mistake and simply requests that you update it during processing, but that's not a chance I would be willing to take.
The entire process is stressful but wouldn't you prefer to know that you're application is as correct as you can make it?
The barcodes contain all the data, so manual edits will slow your process down.
My lag time was much longer than yours (2-3 weeks using DHL), so what we did was print, sign, scan, email, and print (in colour). Our application hasn't been processed yet, so I can't say it that was a good idea or not, but legally it is valid.
McBeth you make a good point - we're going to not rush it so that during the waiting phase we're not second guessing everything and worrying even more later. We'd rather have a complete and proper application.
Hope to be able to submit and put our stats on the spreadsheet soon!
