We got married at a Catholic church in Mumbai. We both are Catholic. Marriage cert issued by the church has been notarized and I got it signed from Mumbai Mantralaya (marriage registrar and home department). This certificate is valid under Christian Marriage Act and can me used for legal purposes.

I live in Canada and my wife is in India, can anyone tell me if this marriage certificate is valid to spousal sponsorship? I read few forums which says it can be used for visa and immigration purpose, however, I am not sure if it is valid for Canadian sponsor application.

I don't think it should be a problem. Have a look at the checklist, I don't think it specifies a legal document. We had a court marriage too so we gave both our legal and church certificates. Submit enough proof and you should be fine. Good luck.
