Spousal Open work permit with a dependent child

Hi Guys,

I am looking to apply for a Spousal open work permit for my wife and I have a 13 months old daughter who will be travelling to Canada with my wife.

Should I apply an OWP or a TRV for my child along with Spousal open work permit for my wife?

I was wondering if my wife got visa for 2 years that’s what my work permit is valid till. Then my daughter would get the visa for the same time or it would be just for six months?

You should request that it be 2 years when you enter. They often match the work permit time frame without asking but if they don’t I would ask.

I have another question regarding my job. I am working on 16 months full-time contract which started in Jan, 2019 and I am planning to apply for SOWP at the end of this month which leaves me with another year of contract with this company, but I am expecting a permanent full-time position by the end of this year.

Does my position as a contract would affect this application in any way? And If I asked my company to mention my expected full-time permanent position date on the letter would be a good idea or not?

Would apply for SOWP as soon as possible because it can take months. Yes if there is not much time left on your work permit that can effect your appliation.
