Hi,

I am applying for permanent residency under the Spousal Sponsorship program. I have a daughter 11 years of age, however my former wife has full custody in her regard. I have remarried meanwhile, and my Canadian wife is willing to sponsor me to come to Canada.

It is clear that my former wife will not allow my daughter to immigrate with me to Canada. My daughter will NOT accompany me to Canada.

Nevertheless, I am not sure what will happen in the future so I want to keep my options open.

Therefore I have a couple of questions:

a. I understand that the Immigration officials examine dependents (and my daughter IS a dependent) in the same time with my application. What the heck does "examine" mean? What do I need to do in respect of my daughter other than declare her as my dependent on my application and state that she will not accompany me to Canada ???

What forms do I need to complete in respect of my daughter? Do I have to provide anything else? Medical forms? Another application? "Examine" = what? The entire thing is VERY unclear to me.

b. What can I do to speed up my application?

I do not want to have my application stopped because the immigration official wants to ask me stupid questions, if I can provide them beforehand, with my application.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Dan

a) Your daughter needs to do a medical exam at a CIC approval panel physician.

b) Have your daughter undergo a medical exam. One major cause of delay is if an applicant has a dependent(s) who are excluded from the application. This means that not only are they not accompanying the applicant at this time, they are Never going to be sponsored for PR. In some cases, the ex-spouse refuses to let the child have a medical exam, and this can be a cause for delay.

So, that is IT, just a medical exam, and file the medical exam with the application? No other forms need to be filled out?

Appreciate it!

I believe there are forms where she needs to be mentioned and her information (DOB and stuff like that) needs to be entered. I can't look for the forms now, I'm on my phone.

Since she is 11, she will of course not need a police certificate, just a medical exam.

She has to be entered to the form for "family members". She also should be marked as "non-accompanied".

Hi, yes, she is a "dependant". And she is entered as such on MY FORMS (IMM-0008, etc.).

However, there is no need to fill out another "General Application" in her name, right? it is sufficient that she is mentioned on my form.

And there is no need to file an additional "Schedule B" in her name, right? it is sufficient that she is mentioned on my forms.

All I need to do, if I properly mention her on my forms, is to have her undergo a medical exam, right? And then file her medical papers, in addition to my papers.

Hey guys, nothing else, right, no additional documents to be filed, with the exception of an extra set of medical forms for my daughter.

Of course, my daughter is properly declared as a dependent on my General Application form IMM0008, and she is also declared as non-accompanying me to Canada

Can anybody confirm this? I do not want the application to be delayed because of this

I think she should be mention everywhere where it is requested to mention your family members. Only show her "non-accompanying".
