sponsorship package returned no reason given

They returned my wife's application package and all the photos we submitted a week and half after we submitted passport.
No reason given. This is freaking me out. I was expecting my wife's passport to have her visa placed.

I've googled everywhere can't find anything. Is this normal to have everything returned; application and all photos?

Did they return the passport? Perhaps if you stated which visa office and which stage you were at in the process (timeline) it would be helpful.

According to your stats, you applied in March 2016? Is this accurate? Did your visa office request additional documents and the passport?

they requested passport which we submitted. No other additional documents which is why I said they did not say why they returned everything.

I would send an e-mail to the visa office and send a CSE. If your spouse/partner resides in Canada, let him contact his MP to assist in finding out why.

Did they return the passport ?

If not, I think nothing is wrong. At the end of the process, they usually return some of the original documents + all the pictures to the applicant. It's a normal procedure.
You should sit back, relax and wait for the passport pickup and the visa will be inside

Now, if they have returned the passport too, with no visa inside, I don't know what to say.
