Please give me examples of govt financial assistance.. Does EI come under it?

government financial assistance = welfare. if you've received assistance for housing, food or other money from your province for living expenses, then most likely you received welfare. this does NOT include EI, since that is a fund you contributed to in case of job loss.

correct. EI is not welfare. you pay into EI when you work, so you are not technically "receiving assistance" from the government, you are simply getting back a portion of what you contributed to the EI fund over the years.
