Hello to everyone on this forum and thanks to all the inputs everyone added through the years.I came across this forum while searching for info online and this is without any doubt the best Canada visa forum ever..I registered and I have a couple questions that if anybody were so kind of answering I would really appreciate it.
-So,I'm a Cuban citizen(born) and I'm currently living in Miami, Florida(Usa) and I'm a legal permanent resident(green card holder) which means that I can go to Canada for a 6 month visit without requiring a visit visa.
-My girlfriend(now fiancee) is a Canadian Citizen(born) and She lives in Quebec.
-We started our relationship 2 years ago(while I was still in cuba) and she visited me and we talked over phone and email(everday)then I bought a plane ticket to go to Ecuador and from there crossed 10 countries until I arrived in USA and applied at the mex-us border for(cuban adjustment act,which means that I can legally in us if I touch us soil,according to usa -cuba immigration policy).So, a year later living in miami I received my green card and that's how I got my permanent residence status in US.Many people told me to marry my girlfriend while I was in Cuba so I didnt have to cross all those 10 countries and put myself in danger but me and my girl 'were not at that point yet',so I took my chances.
-After I got to US our relationship became stronger and stronger each day, we talk on the phone each day for 4 hours,and facebook all the time and text messages, we have been to guatemala and las vegas and she visits me every 2 months.Now we have decided that it's time for us to settle down since it's something We both know and feel it's right.So,there goes my story now my questions
-She lives in Quebec and we plan to get married there so,as for applying for permanent resident status are these the processes?:
1-Get married in Quebec(we decided to get married there)
-Send the ''sponsorship forms'' and ''immigration forms''(for permanent residence) altogether to Mississauga-fees 1040. cad
-Once they approve her sponsor application,CIC will send her info to download the undertaking kit for Quebec residents(since she lives in quebec)
-My wife then fills these forms(lettre de engagement) and sends it along with my Demande du Selection de Quebec to Ministiere du Immigration QUebec and once they approve it they let CIC(mississauga) know and they(CIC) send the immigration package to the visa office in USA(since its where i live).
is that all correct? other questions I have are: -which Visa office for canada in usa do you guys think its faster? -Once the application is sent to usa for processing can I work in canada? how can i apply for an open work permit?
I would prefer people who have come to quebec through this way since its(a little different from people living in other provinces in canada) but everyone is welcome to reply thank you so much and have a great day
