Hi

I am applying to sponsor my husband. This is our situation. I am a permanent Resident in Canada and he is a British Citizen so he can travel to Canada. We are not too sure if we should apply within Canada or outside Canada. Which one is faster
Also, If he wants to work in canada.. how does that work with a british passport

Thank you in advance

That would depend if he needs to travel in and out of Canada during the application process.. if that's the case, it might be better for outland.
I believe that if it is an inland app he can apply to work while the application is processing - but the inland processing time is longer.
Not sure if that's helpful or just more confusing..

outland is usually faster.
if he wants to work, first he needs a job offer then apply for work permit with LMIA.

Assumed you listed him as non-accompanying spouse and he did medical exam in your own PR app?

Agreed that OUTLAND is the better choice due to processing time. Average app through London should be withing 1 year processing time, vs 2+ years for inland. During this time he can stay in Canada with you as a visitor.

Having UK passport or being married to a Canadian PR does not give him any right to a work permit with an outland app in process. He'll need to go through LMIA process with a Canadian employer to get one, or apply for an IEC/working holiday permit separate from the PR app. Of course he can also stay and work in the UK during processing.

Also since you're a PR, you must be residing in Canada during the processing time.

Thank you Canus77, Floomy and Rob_TO for your quick response
I think I will go with outland looking at the time for processing
Both me and my husband has been married and divorced in the past.. Will that impact our application processing time in anyway?
I do have the original court orders for the divorce for both me and him. We also have our registered marriage document with me

Capricorn - it shouldn't affect the processing time.
Just be very organized in your application package - definitely include copies of any and all legal documents from the divorce.
The application package tells you this, as well as including the copies of the marriage certificate for your current marriage.
It's a process, but doable!
I HIGHLY recommend printing the most up to date checklist in the exact application you chose (sounds like outland) and reviewing what you will need to send - as some things take time to get together.

Thank you Canus 77

Hi

I am filling this form IMM1344 (application to sponsor)

Since I was previously married, It is asking for the dates of my relationship with my ex husband
From - will be the Date of my marriage with my ex
To - will that be our separation date or the date of divorce ?

Can someone please help me answer this

Thank you

Cap - we used both in our application, just specified that there was a separation month/day/year then a divorce (as they will have the documents) on m/d/year.
(in our case the divorce took a LONG time - so it looked like the relationships were close together, when in fact the separation period was quite lengthy.

Hope that helps.
Feel free to use a personal message to get in touch (I'll get an email notification that way) - if I can help in any way. I know how tough the process is, and how many silly questions I had!!

Further to Rob_TO's question:

When did you get married to your current husband?

When did you land as a PR of Canada?

I know the timeline shows a date of April 8, 2014, but I'm wondering if that's the correct date since you've indicated in previous posts that you were using your [former?] husband's profile here.
