We just got married on June 2016. My spouse is living with me in Canada since June 2016 and we are living in QC. I'm planning to apply a PR for her. I'm a newbies in this and I would like to know if anyone can answer those questions:
- Since my wife's temporary visitor visa will be expiring on Dec 2016, should I apply for an extension while applying for her PR?
- Since I'm in QC, should I apply though CIC first, then to QC?

You apply OUTLAND, basically the package that says "your spouse resides outside Canada", and download the China/HK/Macau package. You would want to apply for INLAND if you want your wife to get a work permit and start working. Read in the forum of the good and bad for these 2 options.
You first apply for sponsorship (but the application will include the whole package including your wife's application form) with CIC (Missasauga PO Box). When that's approved, you will need to apply with Quebec. You apply your sponsorship forms, while your wife submits her applicant forms.
As for your wife's visitor status, you'll need to renew it before expiry. People suggest to put in the application about 4 weeks before expiry. It will help if you already have applied for PR by that time, especially if sponsorship part is approved.

1. yes. a pr application does not allow someone to stay in canada without maintaining status. it is common to ask for 12+ months extension so you won't have to keep applying.
2. yes. both the sponsor and the applicant applications are sent together to mississauga. you will receive quebec specific instructions after Sponsor Approval.
Thanks a lot CDNPR2014 and cheng9999! I saw that OUTLAND route take a lot less time.
However, the thing that bothers me a lot from applying OUTLAND is how my wife will be able to apply for extension to stay in Canada. So, if I do it that way, is it gonna affect her to be able to stay in Canada?
