Hi,

I am a PR with an expired PR Card (applying for extension this week). I want to eventually sponsor my sister and her son who are living in India as of now. She is a divorcee, working full time as an HR Executive and my nephew is school student of 6th grade.

1.) I read that it is hard to sponsor siblings/parents. Since she is well educated, should I try sponsoring her or would it be better for her to apply for immigration herself along with the son?
2.) Would it make a better case for her through sponsorship since she is divorced or applying herself?
3.) Which way results in immigration faster?

It's unlikely that you qualify to sponsor your sister. Most likely, she will have to immigrate independently through the skilled worker program or something similar.

Do you have a spouse or common law partner?
Do you have children?
Are one or both of your parents still alive?

If you answer yes to any of the above questions - then you can't sponosr your sister for PR.

Looking at your earlier posts - it's now clear you have a common law partner. Since you have a common law partner, you can't sponsor your sister through the federal family class stream.
