Sponsoring my Brother ( Disability )

Hello All,

I became a Canadian Citizen around 2015.
My Brother is asking me if I would be willing to sponsor him under the Family Sponsorship program.

I am unsure If I can though due to his disability, He was born with Asperger's syndrome, a very very mild form of Autism.

He is a fully functioning adult however he currently gets a disability pension in Australia.

I have warned him that if he was sponsored, he'd have to find work here and would be in no way able to be a determent to the Canadian System, as in he could not ever EVER file for disability, he'd have to stand on his own two feet.

This shouldn't be a problem as he seems to be able to work and function like any other adult.

Here's the Tricky part...................

1) Can I sponsor my brother if he has a disability, or will they reject the application?
2) Can I sponsor him and promise / sign something stating I will take care of him in the event of a financial need?
3) Any other obsticals I need to worry about?

Are you married/common law or do you have children? Are your parents alive (not only in Canada)? If so you don’t qualify to sponsor your brother.

If not, do you have any relatives in Canada? If not you can look up the lonely Canadian sponsorship program.

There is no sibling sponsorship program in Canada. Only way to sponsor siblings is through sponsoring parents and they arrive as dependents if they are under 22.

No Not Married / Not Common Law. Parents are alive ( Both Australian Citizens , Im the only Canadian )
So I have no options other than the lonely Canadian sponsorship program?

You don’t have an option unless you your brother is under 22 and you get selected to sponsor your parents.
