We have finished putting our application together and have paid all the necessary fees.
Despite this, I have a few doubts:
1) Intent to Re-settle in Canada:
I've been in Korea for over 4 years and have not filed taxes since 2011. In lieu of an Option-C printout, I have a letter from my employer stating the necessary facts, tax history printouts here in Korea, and a summary of my pension refund (something that is only available upon departure from the Korea).
As a non-resident, I do not own property nor do I intend to buy in the near future.
I do not have a job offer.
I do not have a letter from a recognized educational institution though I am in the process of applying to an MA program and have included a letter of recommendation addressed specifically to the program I hope to be accepted to.
I have a letter from my mother reaffirming our relationship, detailing our plans for a wedding ceremony next summer (we just got married at a local office here in Korea), and offering her guest house to us for as long as need be.
We have a daughter that is now 2 and a half and is a dual Canadian/U.S. citizen—and we have included her citizenship certificate with the application.
We have written letters describing why we want to move back that detail our desire to raise our daughter there as well as our confidence in finding a job upon arrival.
We have nearly $30K in savings with no debt.
Do you think this will be enough to convince them that we intend to return to Canada?
2) Submitting the Application Package:
We are leaving Korea in a week for good and want to send off the package before we go.
First, from what I understand, the package needs to be submitted to the Mississauga, Ont. office, correct? From there, if I am accepted as a sponsor (more on this below) the appropriate docs will be forwarded back to Manila—the CIC processing centre we indicated on our application form. Having indicated I want all further correspondence conducted through the e-mail I provided, I'm assuming I will not have any problems if we are not in Asia, let alone Korea, correct?
3) Crossing Borders:
We will be flying back to Canada for 10 days before traveling to the U.S. to see other family members. A road trip and weddings will take us in and our of Canada a few times over the summer and fall. Do you think my wife will have any problems crossing the border?
If stating that we have submitted a permanent residence application but that we are only visiting is the best course of action, what documents would be the best evidence to provide at the border?
Sorry for the long post, but we only have a few more days before we go.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
