I am not sure this is the correct area of the forum to ask this question but since we are waiting for family class sponsorship to go through for my wife a question popped up that lead to not only some confusion but perhaps some disinformation. My wife and I would like to take a 5 day trip to Las Vegas with a group of friends around 2-3 months after she lands in Canada as a sponsored permanent resident. My wife who used to work at the U.S embassy call center in manila asked a high ranked friend there the stipulations on traveling so soon after landing in Canada to travel to the united states on a short tourist visa. She was told the "unspoken" minimum to be in Canada would be a 6 month period prior to applying for tourist visa and that if she applied only 2-3 months after landing she would be denied. Has anyone had experience in this regards after a just landing in Canada?
I was hoping someone else had a similar situation of needing to travel out of the country after arriving as a permanent resident. I guess every country is different.
