Hello!

I am a Permanent Resident of Canada. I immigrated a year ago under the Federal Skilled Workers Program.

I am alone in Toronto (no husband, no kids and no family - only friends) and I am willing to sponsor my sister´s Permanent Resident Visa under the Family Class program, but she is 36 years old.

I understand there is a possibility of sponsoring one family member rather than your parents, grandparents, spouse, children or under aged orphaned siblings / nephews / nieces if you meet certain criteria, but I couldn´t find the criteria for that anywhere on the immigration website.

My parents are alive and well, but not willing to immigrate to Canada. She would be the only family member I could sponsor - not for possibility, but for willingness to come.

Did anybody here ever had a similar situation?

Could you help me find information regarding this?

Thank you!

You don't meet the criteria as your parents are alive. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...ship/other-relatives/who-you-can-sponsor.html

Option 2: other relative
You may sponsor one relative, related by blood or adoption, of any age if you meet all of the conditions, including:

  • you don't have a living relative you could sponsor instead, such as a:
    • spouse
    • common-law partner
    • conjugal partner
    • son or daughter
    • parent
    • grandparent
    • brother or sister
    • uncle or aunt
    • nephew or niece
  • you don’t have any of the above-named relatives who is:
    • a Canadian citizen
    • a permanent resident
    • registered Indian under the Indian Act
