Question on IMM5562 - I am Canadian Citizen and lives in Canada. I sponsor my parents who lives in Pakistan. a week ago, from UK immigration office, among other documents, they asked to send IMM5562.

i understand a)You b) Your spouse or common-law section. it will be my father information and my mother information.

what about section c), d) e): Your dependent child 18 years old or older.?

Questions:

1) do they need to fill out section c, d, and e?
2) what does dependent means?

Please note that, my parents have children who are 18 years of age(married) and they live in Pakistan but they are not coming with them.

Your parents need to fill fill out section c, d, and e with their dependent children who are 18 years of age (married) living in Pakistan.

Your parents dependent children should be included in the application as non-accompanying dependents.......if the dependent children are not included in the application and examined they will be ineligible to be sponsored by your parents.

Dependent child

Dependent child

Thank you for the response. In the original application they are included as non-accompanying dependents.

Again all the children are over 18 and are married or divorced and not "dependent" on my parents. since they are not dependent on my parents, should my parents still fill out section c,d, and e?

Definition of a dependent child as of October 24, 2017

Children qualify as dependants if they meet both of these requirements:
  • they’re under 22 years old, and
  • they don’t have a spouse or common-law partner.
Children 22 years old or older (also known as an overage dependent children) qualify as dependants if they meet both of these requirements:
  • they have depended on their parents for financial support since before the age of 22, and
  • they are unable to financially support themselves because of a mental or physical condition.

They are NOT dependents if they are married or divorced. They should be included in "other family members" instead of dependent.
