Hi All,
I'll soon have my PR and I'd like my daughter to move here to Canada.
Her mom (my ex) is her caretaker. I provide financially for both. They live in our home country.
It seems clear to me I can sponsor my daughter, but it is not clear if I can sponsor my ex.
The whole purpose is for my daughter to grow with her parents nearby. It would make no sense to just bring my daughter.
My ex (the mother) is more than happy to move to Canada.
The questions is: Can I sponsor both my daughter and her mother?
We were legally married and legally divorced by the time I got here. My daughter is legally registered as such. I pay child support in our home country, and with it both of them live, my ex doesn't currently work and is a full-time mom.
Thanks!
-Leo

Your ex wife would have to apply to immigrate based upon her own qualifications
The pathway connected to you , is closed, since, well, she's your ex

As others have said, not possible for you to sponsor your ex. She would need to qualify on her own through an economic immigration stream like Express Entry based on her level of education, work experience, age, language abilities, funds available to settle herself in Canada and other factors. Suggest that she start by determining how many points she has under the Express Entry system. She needs to have around 470+ to be selected. If that's not possible, then she will need to look into the PNP stream.

If she has been a longterm full-time mother it will likely be impossible for her to qualify on her own.
