Recently I am planning to apply for Canadian citizenship for my son. Your advice and help are highly appreciated in this matter.

Hi
I am a Canadian citizen by naturalization. In fact, one of my kids was born outside Canada before I received the citizen. Actually, he born during the processing time of my citizenship application. Recently I am planning to apply for Canadian citizenship for my son. Your advice and help are highly appreciated in this matter.

If your child was born when you were a PR, then you can't apply for his citizenship. You must first sponsor him for PR.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/minors.asp Use this application if you are applying for citizenship for a child under 18. The child must be a permanent resident of Canada.
In fact, when I raised the same question to the immigration office, I received the following answer.
" Please note you may submit an application for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) for your son, however, he must meet the requirements of a TRV before a visa can be issued to him. Once you have received his visa, you may then apply for his citizenship in Canada."
Your opinion is highly appreciated. Many thanks for your help and patience.
See here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-eligibility.asp.
To be eligible to become a Canadian citizen, you must meet the conditions in all these areas:
Permanent resident status
You must have permanent resident (PR) status in Canada. Your PR status must not be in question. That means you must not be:
under review for immigration or fraud reasons, or
under a removal order (an order from Canadian officials to leave Canada).
You do not need to have a PR card to apply for citizenship. If you have a PR card, but it is expired, you can still apply for citizenship.
If you apply for your son's citizenship without having first sponsored him, you will simply be wasting time and money, as the app will most definitely be rejected and you will be told to apply for sponsorship first.
Yes, since you are a Canadian citizen you don't need to reside in Canada to sponsor your son.
However you'll need to show intent that after your son get's PR you will both move to Canada.
