I have perused this forum and am still unclear how to sponsor our daughter for permanent residency in the family class. Here is our situation.
My wife and I are both permanent residents of Canada, presently living in Canada.
Daughter (13 months) was born in the US, and is a US citizen. She was issued a 1-year visitor record when we returned to Canada from the US on August 01, 2013.
So our daughter is presently living with us in Canada. But, from what I understand, I still need to submit an outland (rather than an inland) application. Is that correct? And if so, do I select CPP-Ottawa as the outland visa processing office, or New York?
Any help would be deeply valued and appreciated. Thank you.
There is no inland application for sponsoring children on their own, so indeed - it's an outland application, and because she is a US citizen, Ottawa is the VO.
Filing for her PR won't give her any legal status, so just make sure that you extend her visitor record one month before it expires, in case her PR has not come through.
In the forms, she will be the principal applicant.
Good luck,
Sweden

A child born abroad will sometimes trigger inquiries by CIC into whether you've been meeting your residency obligations as permanent residents. Be prepared for this in case it comes up.
