Hey everyone.
My wife on visitor record, I am on work permit. We want to apply for study permit inside Canada and extend my work permit.

How will we have more chances to be approved for her SP? If she applies first alone then me? or if we apply all together?

Are you on a PGWP? If she applies for study permit then you are not eligible for a work permit. Canada closed the loophole of couples “flip-flopping” between permits. If you had the study permit first then you are considered the principal foreign national. You are the first person who first applied for temporary status in Canada as a student. It is C-41 and C-42.

When does your PGWP expire? If in 2022, you are eligible for extension. Also you asked the same question a few months ago.

Hello there,

Yes, I asked a question about switching PGWP to SOWP.
I consulted with different lawyers and they told me that this law is for couples when for example a person enters to DLI university then applies for her/his SOWP and when it was approved, person who studied at uni stops studying and applies to SOWP based on status of her/his spouse.

So since you have consulted with different lawyers work with them to apply. Don't believe their advice is correct given the link.

Wouldn’t work with those lawyers. They don’t seem to be knowledgeable about the updated policies.

Wow, thanks for the info. That was one of my options if I don't get PR before my PGWP expires, but I'll have to take it off the list.
