Hi Guys,
Any advice for software engineers to land a job as a software developer in Canada soon after landing. What skills do they seek. also are certifications of any value? Are there any professional associations that I must seek. And are there any professional programs for software and computer professionals to get acquainted with Canadian job market .I am a software engineer by profession and my wife is the primary applicant.

I applied for Mainframe programmer. But i think the reason they didnt hire me is I was holding a tourist visa.. though I have mentioned in my application letter that I have an immigration application to Canada.

My FSW application is in process.

Yes, i am a systems analyst. I have been working in mainframe application for the past 12 years. My skills are in COBOL/DB2/CICS/IMS/MVS/VSAM.
