I have a question guys, what is social services benefits? I just got my landing letter and it says that I need to bring proof of employment and proof of income if i am currently recieving welfare or social welfare benefits. Right now I am not working, I am on maternity benefits from EI. I have a five month old healthy baby boy by the way...
EI maternity benefits do not fall under "welfare" or "social welfare benefits" since you actually paid EI premiums through your job. Social services benefits are those provided when you are in financial need e.g. you can not pay for your basic needs like food, electricity, etc and you need to show proof(bank accounts, etc) that your income is less than what you need to live on.
