I have a question. If someone was a Refugee Claimant, had his hearing and then gets accepted as Refugee in Canada (Convention Refugee, NOT government assisted or privately sponsored). What kind of support can this refugee get? Of course, the person has to apply for a work permit. But what shall the person do until the work permit application gets approved. Unfortunately, I have been receiving conflicting information. Some people say that the Convention refugee is eligible for provincial support (financial assistance), others say he is not eligible for any support, and some people say he is eligible for federal support. Help!
Thank you for the answer. Unfortunately this is not helping me because it says on the website: Refugees who claimed refugee protection from inside Canada are not eligible for this program.
I claimed refugee protection from inside Canada.

Thank you for the help! I understand that a Convention Refugee from inside Canada is not eligibile for the federal "Resettlement Assistance Program" (see link). But what about provincial help/social assistance. At least until the work permit application is approved. Or how can a refugee live if he is neither eligible to work nor to get any financial help?
