Hello all!
A few quick questions... I am currently waiting on my sponsorship application to be approved..and I realized I forgot to include my husbands passport photos on his part of the application! Crap! They must have slipped out because I found them in a folder I used to bring all the papers to the post office... What do I do
Also, I hear all these stories about Americans immigrating to canada with spouse sponsorship and it only took a few months..yet if you check the wait times it says like 15 months...is the wait really that long?
It's possible that the app may be returned OR it's possible that they may just request the photos. Unfortunately, no one can tell you for sure.
As for the posted processing times, that is how long it took to process 80% of apps, which means that 79% of apps are processed faster than that. Last year, the average dropped quite a bit for Americans, to around 4 months or so, but it's creeped up again in recent months and I believe it is sitting around 6-8 months.
Have a look at the Ottawa spreadsheet to get an idea of timelines https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aq6VF-LGjkR9dGNpLUxQZ1Z0Mm80aE5ZWDBvWklEQUE#gid=0
the times posted online are worst case scenarios and are not averages. basically it means that applications are processed WITHIN 15 months, and a majority of applicants are approved in less time. for us citizens it's taking about 8-10 months right now.
if you haven't gotten sponsor approval, then there is nothing you can do about the pictures, unless cic requests them before approving the sponsor (highly unlikely in my opinion). once the sponsor is found eligible, you will be able to send them to the visa officer per the instructions given in the sponsor approval (SA) letter. if you don't send them, then cic will request the photos when it's time for them to issue the visa.
