I have already found a job and I have my COPR with me.
My employer wants some kind of proof that I am eligible to work in Canada. I am landing on the 7th August and committed to them i can join on the 13th August and that I will be able to give them the SIN number on the 7th itself . From the videos I saw that it will take min. 10days for the card to be sent to the address. Now my question is will a number be given on the spot after I apply at Service Canada? I can wait for the physical card no problem. But, I do need the number to submit.
If not how a COPR /PR have a unique canadian identification number up on landing?
Tks for your input.

They don't issue a physical card anymore. You get a printed page with SIN number instantly when you apply for it at Service Canada. So if you apply for it on 7th, you'll get it within few minutes.
