Hi! I am an international student and I have received a part time job offer. I urgently need my sin number. I have applied online but haven’t received it yet (it has not been 25 business days since I applied).
My question is will I be able to get my sin number from service Canada if I walk-in tomorrow? It is open and usually gives sin numbers within 15 minutes. Just wondering if the online application for sin will affect?

It's best to schedule an appointment and get the SIN then and there...yes, in 15 mins. However, your SIN may already have been generated, so in that case visit Service Canada and request them to check on their system and if done, provide you the SIN letter printout.

If more than 25 business days have passed and you would like to find out the status of your application, contact the SIN program.

Yes I walked into service Canada and got my SIN

You can do a walk-in but be prepared to show proof of job offer so that they know you're not flouting regulations for no reason

I called them the day before visiting and they told me my sin got refused only because the proof of address I submitted didn’t have my full name (just initials and last name). So they suggested I visit and get it. At service Canada they didn’t ask me anything about my online application.

Yes before 20 days were completed and I haven’t received the letter of refusal at the time

You can just walk into a Service Canada office to get SIN no appointment or anything is required, they just don't like to advertise this on their website, went to College street location its empty at noon, took 20 min.

This is true. It’s so easy you don’t need any appointment
